Yes, you can make a one-on-one appointment to meet with a Reference Librarian.* Please email your name as it appears on your student ID, requested date and time, and the topic of your reference appointment to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please note: The more detailed you are about your topic, the better we will be able to address your needs! A Reference Librarian will contact you with a confirmation of your appointment or to ask about rescheduling options if it turns out we will not be able to accommodate your preferred date/time.
The Sawyer Reference Librarians also encourage you to drop by the Reference Desk on the entrance level of the Library any time even without an appointment. We're opposite the Circulation Desk, facing the double door. We welcome your tough research questions and database How-do-I's! With or without an appointment, talking to us face-to-face is the best option, when you can. That way we can also show you print materials and step through database techniques more easily.
Other ways to reach the Reference Desk and ask your research question:
- Email the Reference Librarians: email@example.com
- Call the Reference Desk: 617-573-8532
- Chat with us on LibChat instant messenger service (only available during Reference Hours).
* Need a Library Instruction session for your class? If you're a faculty member and would like to schedule an Library Instruction Session for your entire class, please utilize the online "Book Library Instruction Session" form. You can also email us, stop by the desk or call us to make your reservation. Instruction classes are taught in the Instruction Room on the third floor, and generally involve sample searches of course-relevant online databases and an orientation to the library resources most relevant to your students.
